6 month check up!

We took Henry to the Dr. for his 6 month check up on Tuesday and I forgot to blog his stats. Dr. George says Henry is doing great! He weighs in at 18.5 lbs and 28 inches. That puts him in the 50th percentile of weight, 95th of height (!), and finally, 75th of head size! He's growing into that noggin! We are so blessed with this sweet smile and healthy boy!!

Henry Stands

Sooo... Henry can't crawl just yet, but he's got enough power in his legs to stand with limited assistance. We fear that he may be walking sooner than expected.

Theory of Evolution?

From Monkey to Man??
Sure. If Henry was slightly less hairy I'd say they could be brothers!

Henry's half birthday!

Thanks for the loot guys!

It's hard work being 6 months!

Grammy, Mommy, and Daddy celebrated with cheesecake! It was so yummy! And about .3 seconds after this was taken Henry put his foot in Rob's piece. Rob was MAD!!! It was so funny! We all had a great time watching Henry love on his new toys.

Henry goes to the Zoo!

Today was Henry's first trip to the Zoo! The National Zoo in DC is really pretty and now a new favorite of ours!

This was Henry's first time sitting in his stroller without his car seat! He's such a big boy!

We saw all sorts of big animals!

This was a good shady spot to see some big animals. Who cares if it's not real?!

And at the end Grammy bought Henry his new pal. He likes to hold on to the ears!

More of the 4th!

Tonight was so much fun! We didn't think that we were going to go out, because it was sprinkling and we knew that the base firework show was going to be ridiculously packed. So we busted out the bubbles for Henry to play with. But the booms could be heard from our house and we couldn't resist! So we hopped in the car and headed toward the BX. It was very packed, but totally worth it!

The view from the car.

Henry's first experience with fireworks. This is the way to go! Watching from the comfort of your own car!

How cute are these guys?!

The men in my life.

Happy 4th of July!

Henry's half Birthday!

This one is a little blurry, because I had to take it without the flash, but this is how he sleeps now! On his tummy with his bear tucked under his arm!

And here is our little frog!

We didn't do much of anything yesterday for his 1/2 birthday, because I caught the death, but Grammy is coming out on Sunday and we'll celebrate then! Happy Fourth everyone!

On The Move

I keep telling my mom, who will be here in 5 days!, that he will either be crawling by the time she gets here, or definitely when she's leaving! He's getting so close! I'm so excited for him, but at the same time I keep thinking "This is the last time he'll be a tiny baby that doesn't move all over the place!" My sweet Henry is growing up so fast!

Crying it out is hard on the ears.

So we're working on getting Henry to go to bed on his own. It's awful. As I'm writing now he's screaming upstairs "Mama! AAAAAAAAA! Mama!AAAAAAAAAA" Talk about a guilt trip! "Mama" ? Really, Henry? Only when you cry? Boo. We've tried to let him cry for 20-30 minutes, go rock and cuddle for 30, repeat. He used to be out by ten minutes in the rock, but that wore off and now he just cries through that too. So we're trying the jerk method. He's just going to cry until he's done. So far it had been a screeching 25 minutes. I didn't realize how frustrating this part of parenting can be. Henry is very strong willed at times, and that usually comes out at nap/sleep time. You just feel helpless as a parent while you sit and wait for him to fall asleep. A little NyQuil anyone? It's now been 30 minutes. There are little breaks, but he'll start back up again. Please dear Lord, hear my prayer- give that poor baby a good night's rest! And if You are just handing 'em out, I'll take one too!
ooh- 35 minutes.... and it's quiet.... for now!

Henry's Bear Party

Sweet!

Henry started eating Sweet Potatoes this week and he loves 'em! He literally sucks the spoon dry. He was eating a bowl of cereal and a bowl of potatoes the other night and as we neared the end of both Rob and I were amazed at how much he still wanted it! We thought we were going to have to open another little tub, but he was cool with calling it a night. The kid is eventually going to eat us out of tiny house and tiny home!

Wednesday we start... CARROTS!

Time Square!

Friday we decided to pack up Saturday morning and head to the Big Apple! It was our first spur-of-the-moment trip with Henry, but we think he really didn't mind at all! He was such a great kid! He spent alot of the time asleep in his stroller, but when he was awake he was studying EVERYTHING!
This is the view from our room! It was amazing!
This is Henry's first time at Bubba Gumps. We used to each there alot in Monterey, and I thought we wouldn't have the chance again but it was 1/2 a block from our hotel! Yea!
This is Henry in Time Square. There was a lot for him to stare at so he was very happy!

And this is the view at night. It was such a fun weekend!

Central Park!

"So is this the greatest Father's Day or what?!"

"I love Mommy!"

The Empire State Building!

"Holy cow guys! What are you doing to me?!"

"Both hands Dad. Hold me with both hands!"

Safe inside the lobby of the observatory deck

Does this look familiar? It's the elevator in Sleepless in Seattle!

More big day!

Today we had to go to Virginia to the Army Navy Country Club for Rob to receive and award from the Air Force. This was Henry's first official Air Force event!

This was his Club outfit.

This is the acting Chief of Staff of the entire Air Force! That's the top guy. Yeah, those are three stars on his shoulder... :) It was a big honor for Rob to receive this award and Henry and I are very proud of him!

And this is how we finished the night. Covered in oatmeal. Henry has finally started to enjoy his new food! Tonight was hilarious, because I would give Henry a bite, he would stuff his fist in his mouth and then hang it over the side, and Ollie would come and lick it clean! It was as gross as it sounds!! He thought it was very funny!

Henry's big day!

This is Henry with my new camera!! Thanks Rob!

"Oh guys you're so funny!"

"yikes!"

This is a picture of Henry and I tonight. Henry was laying on the floor on his tummy, like the Dr. ordered, crying. Rob got down on the ground with him and I was on the couch. I swear Henry looked at me in the middle of his fit and said clear as a bell "Mama!" and then went back to crying! Needless to say I yanked him up off the ground and he never has to go back if he doesn't want to :)

Henry can't give up the bottle!

After a very enlightening Dr.'s visit today we learned the original Dr. told us the exact opposite from what the specialists want us to do for Hank's constant puking. This includes, but is not limited to, cereal!
Here's Henry's first round with cereal:
He HATES it! He screamed more with every bite!

Have you ever seen anyone this stressed out from a little mush?

Put a W in Henry's column...

We'll try again tomorrow, and hope it goes better!
