Funny for Yesterday

Yes, I know. I should have posted it yesterday.

Henry faked a nap yesterday for about an hour, but I had to go to the post office and to Sam's and continue working on this place so I didn't have time to fight him and make him take a real one. At the post office he was a little monster, getting into the boxes and pulling on all of the envelopes while I filled out a customs form. At Sam's he had no interest in standing by me while I picked up 1 picture. When we were leaving there he was crying "Mama! I wanna get in a buggy and go to sweep! I'm so tiiiired!" And by that point I was pretty tired too! So we got in the car and went across the street to ChickFilA so I could get a Dr. Pepper and while in the drive thru I opted against getting him a fruit cup for the car, because that would have been a disaster. Instead I got him a small vanilla milk shake. I parked the car so that I could put the straw in it and hand it to him and lecture him about taking the straw out or putting his hand in. He started sucking on the straw and when it finally gave him a little taste he looked at me with these super serious eyes and said "drive!" It was like 'this is too good for someone not to take it from me! get me out of here before they try!' The whole drive home all I heard from the back seat was "Oh this shake milk is good! Mmm. This is good shake milk!" So funny!

3 days in...

We're three days in to potty training and I feel it in my legs! All of Hen's toys are in the basement so we make LOTS of extra trips up the stairs to get to the potty. So far we've had one teeny pee-pee accident and one teeny poop! Not too shabby!! He's so proud of his underwear. He wakes up in the morning and tells me "Mama. I'm gonna keep Elmo dry!" He's also eaten his weight in M&Ms over the last few months I'm pretty sure, but we're down to diapers only at nap and bed time so I don't mind so much!

It is hilarious how bright and colorful these underwear are! Everyday is something new and funny!

And this was him last night being a silly goose. He loves to put things on his head and sing "Happy Birthday" over and over!

Almost 2 hours down!

We decided to test out Henry's new underwear we bought this weekend. It's been almost 2 hours and Elmo is still dry! He's pottied 3 times with them on, and 2 of them he initiated it. We are so proud of our big boy!!

Home Improvements

For a while now I've been driving Rob crazy about painting the house. It's a great house, but I don't like walls without a little color! Finally this weeken he agreed to let me do "a little" but now he's been bitten by the home improvement bug and we'll be finished with the dining room this weekend!This is before (before furniture even!)

This is during! We've finshed paintin the bottom half brown and are doing the rest Saturday!

Yesterday was a GREAT day at the Caruthers' house! We found out that Rob is being promoted from E-5 to E-6!! It is very exciting to be married to such a smart, handsome man of the world!
And so we had a celebration ready for when Dad got home. Henry was very confused and kept wishing Rob a happy birthday. He's so funny!


His official promotion date is going to be in May.
Henry and I are so very proud of him!

Funnies this Week

Henry has always made me laugh. With his vocabulary you never know what's coming out of his mouth next, but this week has been so funny!

Henry saw Ollie on the couch and went over to her. He laid his head on her back and said "Oh Ollie. I love you, you know. I do! Do you want me to hold you? Do you?" It turns out, she did not.

Later he said "Oooolllieeeee! Do you want me to hold you like a baby?!" She did not.

Later still he said "Ollie! Get under the blanket and cuddle wif me!" She would not.

She should be pretty frustrating for him, but I think he enjoys the chase! One of these days she may just let him hold her like a baby!

Last week he told me he "really, really want(ed) to jump on Mommy's bed!" and after telling us to "shhhh ut........up" in the car I told him to apologize to his dad and he looked out the window and said "I's just kidding. Just kidding Mommy." Like geez lady, back off! I had to laugh at that one! Pay back for when I laughed hysterically when Mae did it to Em!

We have had such a great past three weeks, I don't even mind that we drove to the ends of the earth (twice) to be a part of it! These pictures are in no particular order so I've just added a quick caption to them. All the cousins! This is Rob's Aunt Gloria, Uncle Gary, cousins Mitch, Amber, John, Stephanie, and 2nd ? cousins Jackson, Jett, and Cole.

These are some of the nicest people I have ever known. I love to call them family!

We had his party on the 2nd at Em's church and it was all we could do to get him to sit still and take a picture. He was waaaay too busy playing in their cool play place!

Yet another person I love! I used to have regular weekly lunches with the gals from Certified when I was in town and Michelle could always be counted on to get everybody laughing. We had the best time!

Maelie and Aunt Kasey Date! Mae gets to choose what we do and where we eat on her date day. Last summer I took her to get her toes painted, and it looks like that may be the activity for a while!

Dane, herself. We all love our grandma so much! I think it is a strong testiment to her that we are all so close. Even though all of the cousins are older, most with kids of their own, we still make a point to get together for a 2nd party!
